- Marketers agreed to "stop making baseless claims" in order to settle an FTC complaint, the first the agency has brought targeting health claims by mobile apps.
- "Smartphones make our lives easier in countless ways, but unfortunately when it comes to curing acne, there's no app for that," FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz said in a news release.
- Ads promised it would "Kill ACNE with this simple, yet powerful tool!" AcneApp, which sold for $1.99 on iTunes, claimed that it was developed by a British dermatologist and employed blue and red light treatments validated by a British Journal of Dermatology study.
